What to do when the pandemic locks us down

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

We are people-loving people. Our writers write to share their stories with their readers, and love nothing better than actually meeting some of those readers. We at Moose House love hanging out with our authors, visiting booksellers, and meeting crowds of book-lovers at a book launch.

Ah, about those book launches...

This has been a tough time to even think of getting a crowd of people together to applaud an author, hear a reading from the new book, buy an autographed copy, and shmooze over refreshments.

We are still working on plans for appropriately-distanced book launches, and for launches in cyber-space (sounds oh, so up-to-date, but not feasible for many of our readers who live in Internet-starved parts of our province). But one thing we can do is get physical copies of books to their authors.

The first copies of Jan Fancy Hull's Where's Home? arrived at our offices from the printer recently. Our offices are in Granville Ferry, near Annapolis Royal, and Jan lives in Lunenburg County, so the most sensible way of getting the books to her was to meet at the Hollow Log Cafe in Caledonia (motto "Equally Distant from Everywhere").

So now the books are in Jan's hands. Stay tuned for news about the launch party for Where's Home?
