Brenda J. Thompson's Enslavers of the Maritimes takes us on a tour of part of the history of the Maritime
provinces that we would prefer to think happened in other places, but not here.

Enslavers of the Maritimes is a painstaking and unflinching catalogue of settlers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and PEI, many of them members of the region’s most prominent families, who enslaved humans.
The Dartmouth Book Awards Board has named Enslavers to the shortlist for the George Borden Writing for Change Award.
This year the George Borden Writing for Change Award will be presented at the Nova Scotia Book Awards Gala on Monday, June 2nd at the Brightwood Golf and Country Club ( 227 School Street, Dartmouth). Other awards to be presented that evening include: the Dartmouth Book Award for Fiction, the Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award, the Margaret and John Savage First Book Awards for Fiction and Non-Fiction, and the Maxine Tynes Nova Scotia Poetry Award.
